We made it to Ohio safe and sound on the 26th. My sister, brother-in-law and two nieces pulled in about an hour after we did. That crazy Santa Claus left stockings for all the kids at my parents house too. They got to open their stockings the first night we were there. Santa left my sister and I pretty cool stocking gifts!! iPads!!The cousins had fun playing and going to bed late and getting up on the 27th to open presents with my parents.A perfect shirt for Lindy – Love to be WildSweet KateWe let the kids open all their gifts and then the ‘big’ kids got to open gifts We had a lazy afternoon getting ready and late naps for the kids. Drew got a Kindle and loves it. Between his books and this he’ll never talk to me again! We ended the evening with an awesome prime rib dinner. My dad went a little overboard with the prime rib this year – he got a HUGE one. It took a hacksaw to cut it in half. But man-oh-man did it taste good! It wouldn’t be Christmas dinner without Penny’s Rolls. These are the rolls my grandmother used to make and now my mom makes. They are so good. The funny thing is that no one knows who Penny is!

Christmas Afternoon
Around 11:30am the doorbell rang and GrandBob and Aunt Anna were at our house to celebrate. Uncle Ed and Aunt Jamie quickly followed. We missed Suzette, Molly and Corbyn who could not be there to celebrate. Suzette came down with a bad cold on Christmas Eve and Molly and Corbyn were celebrating with their mom. We still had a very merry afternoon with the company we had.
GrandBob and Suzette bought the kids a keyboard because GrandBob thought it would drive me nuts. It didn’t work though. The sounds they make are music to my ears and wow do they love the keyboard! We got GrandBob an adult bib too! As a joke. Never thinking he’d actually wear it, I got him one with cats. He hates cats. But he says he loves it and it going to wear it! ha ha.Can you figure out what gift Jamie and Ed gave Bob and Drew? They gave them gift certificates to go skeet shooting!
It wouldn’t be a Southern get-together if the Southern kids didn’t wrassle at some point.Hey, a picture of me. I was around on Christmas day! Will made us a handprint Christmas tree at school for Christmas. We love our tree!Lindy got to make a handprint tree for us too. Will’s teacher is so very sweet. She asked if I would bring Lindy in early one day and she would do something with her so that I would have one from each of the kids. I just think that is the sweetest thing ever. Lindy trying on Aunt Jamie’s coat! After everyone left the kids took a nap and then came down to continue playing with their new toys. Lindy sat at the table with her laptop, blackberry, and camera for so long. It’s the longest I’ve seen her play with a toy in a really long time. They were having fun moving the chairs into all different kinds of configurations. Will really likes his music player.Checking out her pictures.
Around noon on Christmas Day it started snowing and it snowed ALL day long. When we went to bed at 10:30pm it was still snowing. It snowed all night and we woke up to 4-5 inches of snow. Most any day of the year I’d think it was really pretty and we’d go play in it – but we were to leave for Ohio after church on the 26th. I was getting pretty nervous watching the weather forecasts for Virginia and the West Virginia mountains.
We woke up on the 26th and church was cancelled, since North Carolinians don’t travel well in the snow. We checked the forecasts and the departments of transportation and we set out for Ohio around 10am. I’m so glad we didn’t stay home. The roads were clear the entire way to Ohio. We had absolutely no problems at all and we got to my parents at 6pm.
And we’ve been having fun with my parents and sister and family ever since.
Christmas Morning
Lindy woke up at 7:10am on Christmas morning and then we woke up Will. He was not excited to be woken up, but did perk up a little when we asked if he thought Santa came.Growing up my parents always made us stop on the stairs and take a pictures. With our move this summer we got steps in our house and therefore we had our first ‘stop on the stairs’ picture. Lindy was being so silly!Crazy lady was having a blast bumping down the stairs. The kids came down to see what Santa had left them. They both got a little card table and chairs. Will got cars and trucks and a little ramp and garage toy. Lindy got a laptop and some fake blackberries. She’s my technologically advanced child. She got right to work on her laptop. Will was very excited about his stocking items! I wish we were all so excited by socks, underwear, forks, etc.The kids played with their Santa toys while Drew and I opened our gifts.Strangely enough there are no pictures of me on Christmas morning. I did get a couple gifts, just no pictures of me opening them. Drew got some nice gifts too. A tie from the kids and some clothes. Then the kids had a few boxes from us to open.
We had a nice Christmas morning. We eventually got around and got ready and waited for more family to come over to celebrate!
