Dixie Classic Fair 2016

The last week of September was a bit of a blur.  We had one of our two big gala events at work on Thursday the 29th so I worked late most nights and then worked from home once the kids went to bed.  The event went great Thursday night.  Mimo kept the kids and Drew came to eat - I mean volunteer.  ha!  The best part of Mimo keeping the kids is that we got to sleep in some the next morning which is nice after getting home very late that night.

Saturday Will had tennis practice and then we headed to the Dixie Classic Fair for a warm, but fun day with Mimo, Ed, Jamie and Ellie.  We ate lunch, which took forever, and walked around to see all the exhibits and animals.  It was mostly a day of looking around.  We bought just a few tickets and the kids rode the big slide a couple times and then rode the big swings for the first time ever.  We also tried a few tasty treats.  Drew got a deep fried Klondike bar (figure that one out) and Mimo and I shared the deep fried honey bun.  It was delicious.  We watched the Marvelous Mutts dog show and they really are marvelous.  I doubt Lindy really sees all that much but they run up close sometimes so hopefully she sees them. One volunteer threw a Frisbee right near us and the dog came out and got it so hopefully she saw that one.  I took a couple pictures of things farther away and zoomed in and showed her.  It was a beautiful day at the fair and we all had a good time and got worn out.

The pumpkins weren't very big this year - not compared to other years.

Bobby's Birthday

Apparently hardly anything happened during the week of September 19th.  Drew and I ate dinner out on Wednesday evening and the kids ate out with Lynn.  Exciting week, huh?

We went out to eat again Friday night and then we headed to Charlotte on Saturday to celebrate old Bobby's birthday.  We got down there in time for lunch and we stayed through dinner.  We were so glad Bob could feed us so well on his birthday :)  We enjoyed a day of relaxing, hanging out, watching football, and playing on Snapchat.  Suzette had a knee replacement surgery at the end of August so it was good to see her up and moving.  She has worked hard on her recovery.

Sunday we had church and then we met Mom and Dad in WS for lunch after church.  I had some things I needed to get from them.  We ate and then Mom and I ran a couple errands and we met back up with Dad at Costco.

Sorry buddy, doesn't fit now! ha!
 Presents for the old man!

Suzette iced her knee so Lindy had to as well!

He's such a little dear!  So sweet! ha ha!

Back at it

I don't know why I've had such a hard time keeping up with the blog.  Somehow my usual night of blogging, Sunday, somehow keeps being busy.  I feel like every night is busy, or I'm too tired during the week to write.   I'm going to try and get caught up.

I left off with the 2nd week of school and the book festival.  The major highlight from the week was Curriculum night at school.  Since I had already met with Lindy's teacher, I sent Drew to her class and I went to Will's class.  We learned what they'll be covering this year and learned about end of grade reading tests.  Standardized testing.  uggggg.

Wednesday was an early release day.  It works out that all early release days are on the days Lynn picks the kids up.  That is helpful for me.  They went to her house for awhile and then headed to our house.

Friday night we played the game of Life.  Saturday Will started with fall tennis lessons at the park across the street.  It's the same coach he's had all last year and at camp this summer.  He has a full class of 8 this year.  7 girls and Will!  He doesn't seem to mind.
Lindy and Drew spent the morning at the Vision Walk in Greensboro.  They went to support a church member who has a degenerative eye disease but also to support Lindy!  She likes Papa Tom from church because he is like her.  He has glasses and hearing aids too.  They talked and played around and did very little walking.

Saturday night we had a Wake Forest football game.  We tailgated ahead of time with Ed, Jamie, Bob and the Bryants.  The Deacs are off to a good start this year.  Kind of a nice turn of events from the past many years.

Sunday we had homecoming at church.  We had a guest preacher and a yummy covered dish.
