Kidney Test and A Cold

It's another Friday and time for another update. I feel like we were busy this week.

Last weekend Lindy cut her fourth molar on the bottom right. All four are through the surface but not completely in.

Tuesday Lindy had her Governor Morehead teacher (for vision) here for a visit. She brought a chicken that lays eggs. It's a funny toy but of course they love it. Tuesday afternoon we had our deaf and hard of hearing teacher here.

Thursday was the big day for Lindy as she had her renogram done to check on her kidneys. We were quite nervous about this appointment because we didn't really know what the test entailed. We knew she'd have to get an IV and have a radioactive liquid injected in her but that was all we knew. The test went much better than I expected. She did awesome with the IV; she grimaced just a little when they first poked her. The worst part of the test was that she had to lay still for 40 minutes. So that meant I had to entertain her for 40 minutes. Overall she did really well laying there that long. After the 40 minutes were over I got to pick her up for 10 minutes and then we had to put her back on the table for 1 more minute. We have not heard any results yet. We are still waiting to hear from the doctor.

Today she ended up having a hearing test. I had talked to our audiologist earlier in the week and we had an appointment scheduled today to look at her ear molds. We just keep having issues with them. She was scheduled to have a hearing test the beginning of March but the audiologist called yesterday and said they had a cancelation today, did we want to do it today. Lindy did great during the test. They got great information on both ears and they were able to do a test that confirms her type of hearing loss. They were able to get a good audiogram which was almost exactly the same as the audiogram from about 5 months ago. This is great that her hearing is staying stable and not getting any worse.

The Will news for the week is unfortunately not very good. Yesterday afternoon he started sneezing a little bit and he sounded a little hoarse. Today he woke up with a running nose and sneezing a lot. While Lindy and I were gone this morning he laid on Drew's chest and fell asleep. He has never done this! He must not have felt well. He took a good afternoon nap and woke up and played pretty normal. I am hand sanitizing like crazy but I figure it's a matter of days before Lindy gets it. It's too hard to stop them from sharing toys. A girl can always hope!

Have a great weekend and check back at the beginning of the week for our March of Dimes information.

Before church last week.

What a little man.

Will's new habit. Hiking his leg up like he is trying to climb over things.

When Will sees me fixing food he goes to his chair and tells us he wants to be fed. (Click on the picture to really see him telling us).
Hugging her favorite duck. The kids have become obsessed with our cat, Jack. They must touch him whenever they get the chance.
Look at that devious smile!
Lindy in a hip new outfit. Check out her sweet vest!
So what if my girl has a rat tail. I heard it's coming back in style!!

Quiet Week

Wow, this was a boring week for the babies. Not so boring for Drew and I but there is almost no new baby news!

The only appointment we had this week was Tuesday with Lindy's hearing teacher. She brought a new toy that both kids are loving. Wednesday they did get their 18 month pictures taken (see post below). Will was being quite shy. They were trying to tickle him with this flower and he wasn't sure about it. Of course he was smiling and laughing when we were done and picking out pictures. Lindy was her sweet, smiley self. Our good friend Janice went with us. She was a big help!

Drew and I got to attend a kickoff breakfast for the March of Dimes this week. It was in the new Wake Forest Deacon Tower at the football stadium. We were equally excited about the MOD breakfast and going inside the Deacon Tower. Be on the lookout for our March of Dimes team information. We are walking and we hope everyone will support us again.

Lindy is 100% off her bottles. She hasn't had any in a week and a half. We have settled into a good routine. She drinks 12oz of milk from the straw bottle and then we make her oatmeal with 5oz. Seventeen ounces of milk is good I think. She drinks a little water during the day but not a ton. She has plenty of wet diapers so we are going to stick with this for awhile. Getting 4oz in her at each meal can be very difficult sometimes, but we can usually do it.

There isn't any Will news this week. I'll leave you with some pictures!

Lindy's favorite new game:

We got a new toy out of the the basement this week. It was a birthday present from my sister. Will's legs are just long enough to bounce on it. Lindy's too short though!
I taught the babies to give each other 'High-Fives' this week. It is SO CUTE!

Will is still trying to figure out the new toy. He tends to get on it backwards!

No clue what she was doing, just thought it was funny.
I've never been a head band Mama, mostly because Lindy has so much other junk on her head. But this one came with the outfit so I put it on her today. I think she looks pretty funny. As with everything else on her head, she took it off.

Lindy pulls up to her knees all the time now. How cute to see this peeking over the coffee table!
A new Willism is that every once in awhile when he's laughing or smiling he throws his head back. Not sure where he picked that up from!

18 Month Pictures

We got the babies 18 Month Pictures taken this week (even though it's 2 weeks late). Will was Mr. Shy most of the time we were there and wasn't giving up his smiles very easily. As usual, Lindy was a little ham.

Beautiful Weather but A Bad Kidney

We've had another busy week. This week seriously flew by. Last weekend we enjoyed having Mimo stay with us. It was so pretty we went to the park. We have had gorgeous weather all week and we've gone outside a few days for some wagon rides. Fresh air is the best!

Monday Lindy had her hearing teacher here. She brought a box for us to use with her Learn to Listen sounds. The kids love it. Will hasn't ever been interested in doing them with us but now he is right there with us.

Tuesday the babes had their 18 month checkup at the pediatrician's office. Will weighed 21lbs and 3oz and Lindy weighed 19lbs and 7oz. Will gained weight in the last month but Lindy stayed the same. Will was 29 3/4 inches long and Lindy was 27 3/4 inches long. They got two immunizations and their monthly Synagis shot. Dr. Pinder thinks they are doing well. We wanted to talk to her about Lindy's milk intake. After having an awesome straw sucking weekend with NO bottles, she reverted back to not drinking very well from the straw on Monday. Meal times had become major stressers trying to get her to drink milk and stay away from the bottle. She basically told us to get 12oz in her everyday and stop stressing so much. She suggested using milk in her oatmeal instead of water. That is 5oz of milk right there first thing in the morning! The milk stress is better but it's still work to get her to drink milk. Will has had a pretty bad reaction to one of his shots, most likely the DTaP since it contains tetanus. He has never had any reactions before but he did with this one. His leg has a huge red spot, is warm to the touch, and is pretty swollen. I called the nurse's line and they agreed that it sounded like a typical reaction. We are monitoring to make sure it isn't getting worse. It looked better today. He has been fussy but he doesn't act like his leg is actually bothering him.

The big appointment for the week was Lindy's nephrology appointment today to check on her kidneys. There has been concern that her right kidney is not growing. It had not show n growth when we were there 4 months ago. Unfortunately it did not show growth today either. As much as Lindy is growing, her kidney should be growing as well. Since it's not growing, it probably isn't working very well, if at all. Not the news we were hoping for. They have been using renal ultrasounds to measure the growth, but this can't tell us if the kidney is working. They have scheduled a lasix renogram. They will inject radioisotopes by IV into her and will watch to see how the kidneys handle it. The results will determine the next course of action. Little Miss is one tough cookie, let me tell you. She had to have blood drawn and she didn't cry AT ALL. She was too busy charming the pants off the lab tech to be upset about having her blood drawn. What a big girl.

In other news...Lindy cut her third molar this week. Her top left molar made its way through. Will has an interesting new habit this week. He's started getting up around 5:50am each morning, instead of around 7am. While I would really like to just let him fuss for awhile and hopefully he would fall back asleep, he has been waking Lindy up some mornings. It doesn't matter what time we put him down at night, he has gotten up at the same time every morning. This just stinks! I keep having to get up earlier and earlier so that I'm showered and ready for him. I'm not happy about that! He also has had trouble staying awake at lunch every day this week.

Have a great weekend!

Will about asleep at lunch.
Mimo reading to the kids.
Enjoying the beautiful weather at the park!
Having fun in the wagon.

Blowing kisses!

Lindy stole his book. Will was NOT happy!
Will's bad reaction. It's hard to see in this picture.

Will's new favorite place. Maybe he was 'digging for gold' like his daddy used to say when he was little.
Big girl does so good with a spoon!
Will loves the dishwasher
Lindy and Will picked up on the sign for 'More' so quickly. Lindy does it beautifully!
Will has a slightly different version of it but he does it every time we say 'More' so we know he's trying!
