Goodbye August - Hello September

We made it through the first week of school.  Lindy loves her teacher and wants to stay in 4th grade forever!  I'd be fine with that!  Will had the same sub the first four days of the week and then another one started that Friday and stayed the next four days of the following week.  Neither had homework the first week which was great.

We had our first Wake Forest football game on Thursday, August 31st - except we didn't end up going.  We went to the Bryants' house after school and we were planning to go tailgate before the 6:30pm game.  We had planned to stay until halftime - but it started pouring rain.  Katie and I didn't want to take the kids out there in the rain so we decided to go eat dinner at the Mexican restaurant and see what the weather was like after that.  We ate and it was still raining so we went back to their house for a little while.  Of course it cleared off and ended up being a great night for a football game.  grrrrrrr.

We didn't have a busy weekend which was nice.  Drew took the kids to the Bookmarks store for story time on Saturday morning because they had a police officer and K9 dog there.  They also went to check out the brand new library that reopened downtown after a couple years of construction.

Sunday after church we headed to my parents' house to visit them for Labor Day.  The Bryants showed up soon afterwards and we just hung out and the kids swam in the pool.  The weather had cooled down the week before and the water had cooled off so just kids swam.

On Labor Day, we got out on the boat and enjoyed the lake.  It was pretty choppy with the Labor Day traffic and for the first time ever someone flipped out of the tube.   My dad has tried for years to get an adult out of it and without really trying too much, he got Kris out.  And Micah landed in Kris' seat.  The kids had fun out there together.  We swam in the pool for the afternoon, had dinner and headed home for another school week.

Later that week on Friday, September 8th, Drew took the kids to the National Folk Festival that was taking place in Greensboro.  I had my kids clothes consignment sale so I couldn't go.  Drew loved it and the kids had to go! ha!

Saturday, September 9th, was the annual Bookmarks book festival that Aunt Jamie runs.  We got there early so the kids could be recognized for participating in their summer reading program.  They didn't really participate very willingly but they did it and they wanted their recognition! ha!  Will and I had to leave and go to tennis and Lindy stayed with the Bryants and Drew.  Will and I came back to Bookmarks and we listened to the author, Michael Fry, speak about his book.  We got Will's book signed and headed home.  That evening we went to the park across the street for our neighbor's birthday party.

Lindy started up her art classes again on September 12th and we had curriculum night at school on September 14th.  Drew went to Lindy's class and I went to Will's class.

We had a Wake Forest football game on Saturday, September 16th and it was a blowout for Wake.  You don't say that too often in regards to Wake Forest and football.

Both kids were on the school news program, Eagle Eye News.  Lindy was an anchor during the second week of September and Will was on tech crew the third week of September.  He won't get in front of the camera but he enjoys helping run the cameras.
