Finishing Out September

Lindy had her first ever sleepover with her friend, Josie, on Friday, September 22nd.  She was super excited and did fine.  She called one time but otherwise she did great.  I wasn't really worried about her getting homesick though.  That same day Will went home with his friend, Luke, but he didn't spend the night.

Bright and early Saturday morning we picked Lindy up from her sleepover and we headed to Boone for the Wake Forest versus App State football game.  We met up with most of the Southern family for a good show down since Anna went to App State and Drew and Ed went to Wake.  We had a fun tailgate and a fun football game that Wake squeaked out a victory in by blocking a field goal.  Football games at App State are always fun so it was a great day.  We sat on the hill and that was interesting.  We fought gravity the entire game because the hill was steep!  Will and I came back from getting a drink and we both bit it on the hill.  He fell into the guy in front of him and I landed on my butt.  We tried to entertain everyone.  ha!  Old Bobby Southern's birthday was the week after the game so I made a cake and did a little decorating for him.  Just trying my best to embarrass him.

Sunday, September 24th we went back to a past church and Drew preached and we stayed for the potluck afterwards.  It's always fun to catch up with people. We were at this church when the kids were born and moved when they were three so everyone loves to see them.

We got a new car the end of September.  We traded in the 10 year old Honda Odyssey for a new one.  It pulled a little heartstring to let the old van go.  We got that van when the kids were in the NICU and Lindy and I spent a lot of time in it driving to all her appointments.  It took us on many great trips to Missouri, Florida, Ohio.  The kids grew up in that van.  It was a long day and long night and we were really tired when we left the dealership with the new van.  The new van took a long time to get used to.  We didn't get a loaded van but all the computer stuff and safety features were not on my old van!

Will had a book report due the end of September and he ended up doing a great job.  You had to decorate a cereal box.  Will's box was a mystery that took place in the Met in NYC so my friend Callie, who lives in NYC, went and got us a bunch of brochures from the Met.  We used them to decorate the box.  It turned out great!

Drew and his buddies did a big hike up in Stokes County on September 30th.  It was called Reach the Peaks and they hiked to 5 peaks all around Hanging Rock State Park.  We had one more home football game that afternoon and then we called it a month.

Bobby's birthday!
