Health Update

Will: Will's doing pretty good today. His ventilator settings are down. The doctor said he hopes to be able to ween Will from the ventilator in the next week to ten days. Yeah, little man is having a good day.

Lindy: Lindy, however, is being a bit of a problem child. The doctors fear she has an infection, which they've begun treating with antibiotics. They have had to put her back on the jet ventilator (she had been on a conventional ventilator for about 24 hours). They will do another echocardiogram next week to see how significant her PDA (a heart condition common in premature babies) is and then make a decision on treatment. The neurosurgeons are keeping an eye on her head circumference to make sure her hydrocephalus (water on the brain) doesn't put too much pressure on her brain. I think she likes the attention.

Jamie and Drew,

As everyone else has said, thank you so much for sharing your life, hopes, and pictures of those beautiful babies. After having Jacob at 12 weeks premature, I can only imagine what you must be going through with even more to endure.

From what Amy has told me it sounds like the nurses and hospitals are taking very good care of the babies and of you also. I can honestly say if it weren't for the support of the nurses and hospital, I know we would've been admitted ourselves.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers and wishes are with you during this time and if there should be anything you need, to not hesitate to ask us or Amy, she knows how to get ahold of us.

It's hard to believe our little Jacob is now in kindergarten so please keep your faith they grow so quickly and every milestone is one to remember.

Sincerely,
Amanda and David Stiens
