Before I get into the potty update, I have to back up to Mother’s Day. I had a nice lunch out with the family at Chili’s. The kids took a good long nap, which is a little present within itself!
And now for the potty update…it was a bust. No one is potty trained around our house. I started out taking him every 30 minutes and he was going, every time. Assuming I took him, he didn’t have any accidents. I realized that it wasn’t teaching him to tell me though. The next day I switched tactics and did something called the 3 Day Potty Training schedule. It says to basically follow the kid around and as soon as they start to pee in their big kid pants, rush them to the potty and let them finish in the potty. At the end of three days they are supposed to realize they need to tell you before they go. We tried it one whole day and every couple hours he’d pee and I’d catch him and run him to the potty and he would finish. The problem was that we didn’t have 3 full days to really try it. We never had any success with pooping. We only had big messes. One time he did tell us right after he’d done it. All in all, it was a bust. We might try it all again over Memorial Day. As far as appointments go, we only had two this week. We had vision therapy on Wednesday morning and hearing therapy on Wednesday afternoon. We are trying out a board that we set on the table so Lindy can see it right in front of her and so she doesn’t have to look down on her tray. It seems to help out some. Hearing therapy was good too. Lindy did well picking out three objects. I think she is getting it!
Friday night we went to the Relay for Life. The kids always love being outside. Will was really into watching the Nifty Fifty dancers. He kept taking my finger and pulling me back over to watch them dance. We stopped for milk shakes on the way home and the kids loved them. Lindy was seriously loving it. She kept pulling my arm back for more.
Yesterday was a mama’s day away for me and my friend Katie. We left the hubbies and kids at home and we took on IKEA! We had a blast! I’m embarrassed to admit how long we spent there. Let’s say we did eat two meals though!
Some more pictures of the week. I taught the kids how to jump like a frog this week. Lindy has her own personal spin on the frog jump though. She crouches down and then kind of walks on her hands and toes. And finally today’s cute seersucker church outfits.
