Week in Ohio and Drew’s Birthday

I’ve finally got an hour to do an update.  We were in Ohio for almost a week and then we’ve been really busy since we got home.

We had a great time in Ohio visiting my parents.  It was really fun to see the cousins play together.  Rylee is 10 months younger than Lindy and Will, but is about the same height as Will and weighs more than both of them.  So you’d never know she was younger.  Hayley is 6 and a great helper and babysitter.

The kids did get head colds while they were in Ohio.  Basically just runny noses.  As usual, Will’s nose ran like a faucet and Lindy’s didn’t.  Her snot runs down her throat and makes her all congested.  One night we put them to bed and when Drew went to bed found that she had thrown up all over her bed.  We got her up and she continued throwing up a couple more times but that was it.  She gets so much snot back there that the only way for it to come out is to throw it up.  Not much fun to deal with at 11pm but we all got it done.  Because they were congested they didn’t sleep all that great up there.  We both slept a couple nights on the couch with one of the kids.

While we were in Ohio we did get about 6 inches of snow.  It was really cold outside so instead of the kids going out in the snow, we brought the snow to them.  It was my sister’s idea to get a big tub of snow and let the little ones play in it.  They had a blast.  I was definitely surprised that Lindy liked it so much.  She even got in a few tastes of it.

My mom, sister and I did get out for a bit of after Christmas shopping a couple different days.  We appreciate the guys watching the kids for us.  The girls went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks one afternoon and then the guys went to see Avatar that evening.  We went out to eat one night as well.

The kids were good travelers.  Lindy slept three hours on the way home which is almost a record for her.  Will loved the DVD player and now wants to watch it every time he’s in the car!  Sorry buddy, that’s for longer car rides!

We have been very busy since we got home.  Thursday I spent the day unpacking and then we went to a New Year’s Eve party.  Friday we went to some friends’ house for a lunch of greens and black eyed peas.  Greens are supposed to bring money and black eyed peas are supposed to bring good health in the new year.  We’ll take both of those!  Saturday was Drew’s 34th birthday.  We took him out to lunch and then we went to Raleigh for a post-holiday party at our friends’ house.  Today we had church and we’re headed out to a Wake Forest basketball game.  I still haven’t finished unpacking and our tree is still up.  Hopefully this week I’ll get caught up!

Enjoy the pictures from our week.

Too funny! The trio got the same giraffe bike from their great-grandma for Christmas and are loving it!
