St. Patrick’s Day, Snow, Cousins, and Friends

This week was actually pretty packed!

Monday we got up and found the naughty leprechaun had destroyed our house again.  I had totally forgotten about him until we woke up to his chaos!  The kids always love to find his messes.   The kids dressed in their St. Patrick’s day shirts and headed to school.  There was a chance of sleet and we didn’t know what the day would hold.  Before lunch time Drew came out of the hospital to sleet.  It came down quick and started sticking quickly.  He stopped by the school to see if they had heard anything about school getting out and they had not.  He decided to go eat lunch nearby and see what happened with the weather and if school would get called.  Around lunch it was still coming down so he decided to just go ahead and get them from school.  He didn’t want to drive all the way home and then have to turn around and drive back to get them.  He was in the office checking them out when the call came through that they were letting out early.  Thankfully he stuck around!  When I got home from work in the afternoon it was a mixture of rain, sleet, and freezing rain.

And so school was cancelled on Tuesday.  agagaga!!  We are up to June 17th now!  I had appointments all day long and I never encountered any ice – but I guess it was somewhere for them to call school off.  Drew ended up taking the kids out in the afternoon to Adventure Landing for a little afternoon fun.  Randomly Drew and the kids and I all ended up at the same place around 4:30pm.  Lindy had an ENT appointment and I had an appointment there for work.  Lindy had a good appointment.  He cleaned wax out of her ear and he said she does have a little fluid.  She is trying to get over a cold so that’s not surprising.  I think her hearing isn’t as good right now either.  It’s not infected which is good and she does always seem to clear it by herself.   We ended the evening at the Cracker Barrel which was yummy.

Wednesday the kids were back to school but they actually got out early again – this time for a dentist appointment.  They both had good check ups – no cavities – but they both have their spots that they need to clean better.  Will needs to get his back teeth and Lindy needs to get the back of her front teeth.  Will’s mouth was sore from all the pulling she did on his cheeks to clean back there!

That night for dinner we met up with my parents, Amy, and nieces at Bonefish Grill.  It’s a favorite spot of Amy’s and my parents had not experienced Bang Bang Shrimp.  It was a yummy dinner followed by Krispy Kremes for dessert.  It was almost followed by Jamie puking because I was so full.

Thursday and Friday were normal days except that I picked the kids up Friday after school and they hung with me at work for a bit.  Drew met us at work and then we headed to my parents’ to see my sister and nieces one more time before they left.  A definite perk to my parents moving to NC is that I hopefully get to see my sister and nieces more!  I normally only see them twice a year.  This year it will definitely be three times – and I hope more!!  I love my nieces to pieces!!  We ate dinner and then the kids played Legos while we watched basketball.  We left a little before 10pm and the kids were out quickly in the car.  Amy and the girls left on a 7am flight on Saturday morning, hence why we didn’t spend the night.

Our alarm clock – Lindy- woke us up too early on Saturday morning.  No sleep for the weary.   The kids and I left at lunch time to head to the Greensboro Science Center to meet up with my besties from high school.  It started as a girls’ day and turned into a girls’ and kids’ day.  We have 9 kids between the four of us.  One sister and her son came along so there were 10 kids in our party.  I thought for sure we were going to lose one but somehow we managed to wrangle everyone all afternoon!  An amazing feat!  It was a fun afternoon with everyone.  Lindy latched onto Riley and became her best bud.  Riley was nice enough to hang with her too.  It really was a big help!  Because she was with Riley she didn’t beg to be held the whole time and it was great to have someone else keeping an eye on her!  Thanks Riley!  We played all afternoon and then headed for an early dinner.  The restaurant was awesome for taking a party of 15 (10 being kids).  Our waitress was awesome.  She handled our table like a pro – she even split up pizzas among different checks.  The kids were all amazingly well behaved.  We finally headed home around 7pm and we all crashed.

Today we had church and I’ve done chores around the house.  The kids are totally over the NCAA tourney.  They want their shows back.  ha!

And now some pics of the week.

Some serious bedhead!

This gibbon was awesome.  One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.  He (or she) was swinging everywhere.  One side of the sign was coming down and he kept trying to fix it!  DSC_8095

Tee Ball and Cousins

Hmmm,  I’m having trouble remembering what we did last week.

Tuesday night Will started Tee Ball.  He is on a new team with a new coach.  His team is the “Hotrods.”  How funny is that?!  We had a beautiful springy day so we all headed to practice that night.  It was supposed to be 1.5 hours long so we drove two cars and around 7pm Lindy and I headed home.  Will had a great time and it’s crazy how much better he is at hitting off the tee and throwing and fielding the ball.  Last year at the end he was hitting it when pitched from the coach but I don’t know if they’ll do that this year.  I hope so!  I’m sure Will is the oldest child on the team but he fits right in size wise.  I think most of them have never played before.  Should be interesting!

I spent the entire week tagging items for my mothers of multiples consignment sale.  I got everything done late Thursday night.  Friday after work I met Drew and the kids for dinner and then I headed to take all my stuff.  We got to load in at 6:30pm and shop at 7:30pm.  Then I had to work the register line from 8:15-9pm.   Drew met me outside with the kids in jammies and I drove the kids to Mooresville.  They immediately fell asleep and we threw them in the bed when we got there.

My parents left after we got there and headed to the airport to pick up my sister and nieces who were starting their spring break that afternoon.  They got home late – 1am!  Everyone slept in the next morning – except Lindy Lou who was wide awake at 6:45am.  I threw her in the bed with me for awhile.  Will woke up and I threw him in the bed too.  Eventually everyone woke up and man those cousins played hard together all day long!  It was a beautiful day outside and they spent almost the whole day out there with scooters and big wheels.  They ate lunch and we took a boat ride.  It was a fun cousin day!

That evening we had a little St. Patrick’s Day party at my parents’ house.  It was kind of random but Aunt Jamie’s parents, sister, and nephew were all in town from Alabama.  Jamie has never met my sister, Amy.  We invited all of her family, Ed, and Molly and then Bob, Suzette, Lynn, and Anna over.  No one had seen my parents’ new house so they all got to see that too.  It was a fun evening and probably one that won’t happen often to have all that family in the state of NC!

Sunday we woke up to yucky rain so the kids had to stay inside all day – which they weren’t too happy about.  But at least they all got to play together some more.  My parents’ best friends, Ken and Carolyn arrived around lunch time.  They were in route from FL back to Vermont where they live.  They had been down in Hilton Head since January and then to FL to visit a grandson.  On the way home they stopped to see our family.  They had their dog Tucker with them.  We ate breakfast with them in January on our way home from Disney and Lindy was so excited about the thought of Tucker.  She asked about Tucker the last few months.  She finally got to meet Tucker on Sunday – and she was a bit hesitant.  Tucker is a big old dog.  A really kind, but big dog.  I think his size intimidated her.  By the evening she had warmed up to him.  The kids and I left around 6pm Sunday evening to come home because they had school and I had work on Monday.

We loved our weekend with the family and Cones – who are like family!

Lindy has really gotten in to puzzles again.  Of course only Jake puzzles!
