Beeping Eggs

I’m trying to think of anything exciting that happened this week.  We got more snow on Tuesday.  (And today actually! What?!)  Thankfully there was no accumulation and it was just pretty to look at.  Will’s tee ball was cancelled again.  Every Tuesday night practice has been cancelled due to snow except the very first one on March 11th.  This winter has been too wild.  Hopefully April will bring completely new and different weather than March had!

The most fun we had was this weekend.  Friday night the kids and I finally watched Frozen.   We had been listening to the cd for a couple weeks but hadn’t seen it.  Now we understand the songs!  It was kind of scary – for my scaredy cats anyways.

Saturday we went to the 4th Annual Eggsplosion.  It’s the Easter Egg hunt for visually impaired children.  The local bomb squad made these beeping eggs so kids who can’t see can find them by following their sounds.  Lindy really has no problem visually seeing them but it really is a great thing for so many kids who have gotten left out of egg hunts in years past.  We love to go and see Lindy’s old vision teachers and friends we now know after going for four years.  The Corporal in charge of the bomb squad is so nice and we enjoy seeing her each year.   It grows every year, so it’s fun to experience new stuff each time.   Will enjoys it just as much as Lindy!  The news channels were there again this year and Lindy got a 2-3 second clip on one station.  It’s been good press for her.  One year we were interviewed and another year her picture was in the paper.  That child gets around the news!

The Wake Forest Demon Deacon was there this year.  He was a new addition.  My kids have so many pictures with the Deacon.   We attend a lot of Wake events and see him there.  But then he seems to show up at events related to Lindy and her vision or hearing loss.  I have pictures of my kids doing crazy stuff with the Deacon.  Like just Lindy and the Deacon under a giant parachute.  Random.  Saturday we got pictures of Lindy and the Deacon doing yoga together and Will racing the Deacon.  So fun and such great pictures!

Today we had church and then we just dropped our kids off with my parents.  It’s officially spring break but ummmm, we have to work.  They are spending a couple days at my parents, a couple days at home, and GrandBob and Suzette are spending a couple days here with them.  Making do with child care this week.  Drew and I are heading out to dinner – yay!

Enjoy the pictures!

Lindy with her old vision teach, Ms. Pam.  Ms. Pam taught her from ages 3-5.  Ms. Pam is blind and Ms. Sue, standing with Will, is her helper.  She was Ms. Pam’s eyes.  We enjoyed seeing both of them!DSC_8109

Finding the beeping eggs!  There was enough other stuff this year that they didn’t spend long hunting eggs this year.  Lindy went a couple times but Will just went once.DSC_8123DSC_8125DSC_8127

Seeing one of two bunnies.  This one kept walking around with his head off.  He has normal hands, anyone notice that?  This Easter Bunny must not play the Easter Bunny too often.  I kept steering the kids a different direction when I’d see the headless Easter Bunny!DSC_8135
This one stayed in costume much better.  But I thought he was kind of creepy looking.

And then their fave, the Deacon, showed up!  I think the kids might think the Deacon is one of their actual friends! ha!DSC_8141

St. Patrick’s Day, Snow, Cousins, and Friends

This week was actually pretty packed!

Monday we got up and found the naughty leprechaun had destroyed our house again.  I had totally forgotten about him until we woke up to his chaos!  The kids always love to find his messes.   The kids dressed in their St. Patrick’s day shirts and headed to school.  There was a chance of sleet and we didn’t know what the day would hold.  Before lunch time Drew came out of the hospital to sleet.  It came down quick and started sticking quickly.  He stopped by the school to see if they had heard anything about school getting out and they had not.  He decided to go eat lunch nearby and see what happened with the weather and if school would get called.  Around lunch it was still coming down so he decided to just go ahead and get them from school.  He didn’t want to drive all the way home and then have to turn around and drive back to get them.  He was in the office checking them out when the call came through that they were letting out early.  Thankfully he stuck around!  When I got home from work in the afternoon it was a mixture of rain, sleet, and freezing rain.

And so school was cancelled on Tuesday.  agagaga!!  We are up to June 17th now!  I had appointments all day long and I never encountered any ice – but I guess it was somewhere for them to call school off.  Drew ended up taking the kids out in the afternoon to Adventure Landing for a little afternoon fun.  Randomly Drew and the kids and I all ended up at the same place around 4:30pm.  Lindy had an ENT appointment and I had an appointment there for work.  Lindy had a good appointment.  He cleaned wax out of her ear and he said she does have a little fluid.  She is trying to get over a cold so that’s not surprising.  I think her hearing isn’t as good right now either.  It’s not infected which is good and she does always seem to clear it by herself.   We ended the evening at the Cracker Barrel which was yummy.

Wednesday the kids were back to school but they actually got out early again – this time for a dentist appointment.  They both had good check ups – no cavities – but they both have their spots that they need to clean better.  Will needs to get his back teeth and Lindy needs to get the back of her front teeth.  Will’s mouth was sore from all the pulling she did on his cheeks to clean back there!

That night for dinner we met up with my parents, Amy, and nieces at Bonefish Grill.  It’s a favorite spot of Amy’s and my parents had not experienced Bang Bang Shrimp.  It was a yummy dinner followed by Krispy Kremes for dessert.  It was almost followed by Jamie puking because I was so full.

Thursday and Friday were normal days except that I picked the kids up Friday after school and they hung with me at work for a bit.  Drew met us at work and then we headed to my parents’ to see my sister and nieces one more time before they left.  A definite perk to my parents moving to NC is that I hopefully get to see my sister and nieces more!  I normally only see them twice a year.  This year it will definitely be three times – and I hope more!!  I love my nieces to pieces!!  We ate dinner and then the kids played Legos while we watched basketball.  We left a little before 10pm and the kids were out quickly in the car.  Amy and the girls left on a 7am flight on Saturday morning, hence why we didn’t spend the night.

Our alarm clock – Lindy- woke us up too early on Saturday morning.  No sleep for the weary.   The kids and I left at lunch time to head to the Greensboro Science Center to meet up with my besties from high school.  It started as a girls’ day and turned into a girls’ and kids’ day.  We have 9 kids between the four of us.  One sister and her son came along so there were 10 kids in our party.  I thought for sure we were going to lose one but somehow we managed to wrangle everyone all afternoon!  An amazing feat!  It was a fun afternoon with everyone.  Lindy latched onto Riley and became her best bud.  Riley was nice enough to hang with her too.  It really was a big help!  Because she was with Riley she didn’t beg to be held the whole time and it was great to have someone else keeping an eye on her!  Thanks Riley!  We played all afternoon and then headed for an early dinner.  The restaurant was awesome for taking a party of 15 (10 being kids).  Our waitress was awesome.  She handled our table like a pro – she even split up pizzas among different checks.  The kids were all amazingly well behaved.  We finally headed home around 7pm and we all crashed.

Today we had church and I’ve done chores around the house.  The kids are totally over the NCAA tourney.  They want their shows back.  ha!

And now some pics of the week.

Some serious bedhead!
