Playing Outside

We went out to play this morning and had a great time.  It’s a bright, sunny, and beautiful day out there.  The kids didn't exactly like the snow though.  It was too deep for them to do anything in it.  Will tried walking and he would sink down too far where he couldn’t walk.  He tried crawling on it but that didn’t work well either.  We ended up playing in the driveway.  It actually worked out great.  They couldn't take off running in opposite directions. They were contained to one area and it was awesome!

A church member went by with his tractor on his way to South Stokes High School and saw us out and saw me shoveling the driveway.  He stopped and cleared the driveway for me!!  I guess he felt bad for me.

Enjoy our snow pictures!

I know they were wondering why in the world I had them in so many layers!DSC_0166DSC_0163 All ready to go but not quite sure about their outfits!DSC_0168 DSC_0167

More Snow

A big old snowstorm blew through and we got 8-10 inches of snow last night and today.  Two snowstorms in one winter is good for NC!  We didn’t make it out to play today because it was sleeting for a long time and it was cold, less than 20F.  We plan to head out tomorrow morning since church has already been cancelled.

Last weekend we got together with 5 of my friends from high school.  It was a blast to see everyone and see all of our offspring playing together.  The 6 of us have 10 kids plus one on the way.  We were missing one on Saturday because he was sick.  I only wish I lived closer to these girls; they are the best!

We had a good week with only a couple appointments.  Our physical therapy appointment was cancelled on Tuesday so we had a free day.  Wednesday Will had speech therapy in the morning and Lindy had hearing therapy in the afternoon.  Both went well.  Will enjoyed speech therapy again.  You could tell he was tiring of it at the end though.  He was tired of repeating words I guess.  I feel like he is making a much bigger effort to repeat and imitate words.  We used to get a grunt when we asked him to say something.  Now he will try to say it.  That’s definitely a step in the right direction.  Lindy’s hearing therapy went well too.  Our therapist had another therapist there doing a peer review.

Will woke up with a mysterious rash Friday morning.  I noticed his forehead looked a little red at breakfast but he acted fine.  A little later I changed his diaper and saw some tiny red bumps on his bottom.  Then I went to change his clothes and he had the red bumps all over his belly and back.  He has acted absolutely fine though.  He still has the tiny bumps but so far no other symptom of any other kind.  He didn’t eat anything new and we haven’t tried any new soaps or detergents.  Very strange indeed.

I noticed something today about Lindy today – she basically never takes off her glasses or hearing aides anymore.  She pretty much wears them all day, except when sleeping.  I honestly never thought we’d see this day.  I thought she’d be pulling it all off her entire life!  She has become a big girl!  Her hearing aides still flop quite a bit and when they do she touches the hearing aid and says “help.”  She waits for us to tuck it back behind her ear.  I still don’t trust her in the car with them though!  It took almost two years but she is finally wearing it all very consistently.

I think that about sums up our week.  Even though we didn’t go out in the snow, I brought the snow into the kids.  They had a ball playing with it and Lindy ate her weight in snow.  I finally had to stop her because I have no clue if she is aspirating it.  Who in the world has to worry about their kids aspirating snow except me???  It took Will about 25 minutes to realize she was eating it and then he had to have some himself.

The laptop was playing one of his cd’s and he just sat and stared at it.  He is also working on his second two year molar so he’s been chewing on his hand all week.DSC_0050DSC_0054  Almost every day Will gets him belt down and pretends to put it on.DSC_0057DSC_0068Playtime with Daddy.  DSC_0073DSC_0070DSC_0079Waiting for snow!DSC_0082 DSC_0084 It snowed!!DSC_0098 Playing with the snow!DSC_0104DSC_0127DSC_0114 DSC_0137 DSC_0138DSC_0142 DSC_0146 I put their gloves on to keep their hands a little warmer.  Of course Lindy wouldn’t leave hers on.  Will saw his toboggan and thought he should wear it too. Happy Birthday to ME!!

First off, and most importantly, Monday, the 18th, was my birthday!!  I had a nice weekend of celebrating.  Drew and I went out Saturday night with our friends Kris and Katie for a nice adults only dinner and a movie.  Our friend Janice stayed with the kids and we were able to go out and enjoy ourselves.  On Monday Drew made me lunch and a cake.  We got to go shopping at Target and we went out to eat.  Drew’s brother, Ed, was able to join us, which was nice.  It was a nice day with my family.

Tuesday we were back to the our normal appointments.  Lindy had PT at 9am and for the first time this year she participated willingly and worked hard.  Last week completely stressed me out so I was really glad to see her back to normal.  Tuesday afternoon we had vision therapy with Leslie.  Leslie is doing her national boards so she had another teacher with her video taping the session.  Thankfully Lindy participated and behaved pretty well on camera!

Wednesday we just had hearing therapy in the afternoon.  We worked on big and not big.  We’ve taken a break from trying to get her to choose two correct toys.  It was stressing us all out.

The last two days have been rainy and cold.  We haven’t left the house since Tuesday.  I guess Will hasn’t actually left the house at all this week.  I wonder if he has cabin fever.

The biggest thing going on in our house right now is pushing.  It’s mostly Lindy pushing Will but today he was pushing her back.  We’ve started putting Lindy in time out but it doesn’t seem to change anything.

Lindy has figured out how to climb on the couch.  She uses the book basket to get up there.  She is just a hair too short to do it by herself.  It shocks me every time I walk in and find her up there.  She can get off which is a good thing.  She tries to stand up which is a bad thing.  I’ll put the book basket back under the coffee table to stop her and she will pull it right back out and get up on the couch.  Smart girl!  She has also figured out how to unzip her pajamas and I’ve found her the last two mornings with them half way unzipped.  I’m just waiting for the morning I go in and her diaper is off.  Another cute thing Lindy has started doing is when we crouch down and say come here to her she will take steps backwards and then run to you (as much as Lindy can run, but it’s faster than a walk!)  She also figured out how to walk in a circle this week and make herself dizzy!

Will has spent the week making the funniest faces.  Of course I can’t actually catch it on camera though.  We are ready for the kids to expand their vocabularies but I can’t imagine the day Will stops saying “Hi Boo” to us.  ‘Hi Boo’ has probably taken first place these days in front of ‘What’s that.’  He gets so excited and he says “Hi Boo.’  Sometimes he yells ‘HI’ really loud and then adds a quick, soft ‘Boo’ to the end.  Drew’s says it is Ric Flair style.  The cutest thing Will does lately is say the dinner blessing with Drew.  As soon as Drew says, “Let’s say the blessing” Will starts blabbering away.  It is so funny.  I have video of it, I need to upload it soon!

Have a great weekend.  I’m looking forward to hanging out with my high school friends tomorrow!
